Engineering excellence since 1987
Four decades of precision manufacturing from a single Colombo facility — castors and wheels engineered, cast, machined, and tested under one roof. Trusted by manufacturers across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Founded on engineering, not imports
The Wheel Works was founded in 1987 by a team of mechanical engineers who saw the gap between imported commodity castors and the durable, application-tuned mobility hardware that industry actually needed. Rather than distributing someone else's product, we built our own facility.
Four decades later we're still engineer-led and still operating from that same Colombo site — now expanded across three buildings, a compound-development lab, and a certified testing facility. A wheel is not a commodity: it's a load-bearing component that either keeps production moving, or becomes the reason a line goes down.

The Wheel Works
Everything in-house, from raw stock to final QC
We control every step of production. No outsourcing, no surprise lead times, no finger-pointing when something goes wrong.
In-house casting
Aluminium and cast-iron cores cast on-site. Full control over alloy composition and post-cure heat treatment.
CNC machining
Multi-axis CNC cells for precision hub and axle geometry. Tolerances to ±0.05 mm on critical bores.
Compound development
On-site rubber and polyurethane formulation. Custom tread hardness, conductivity, and chemical resistance to specification.
Tooling workshop
All moulds and fixtures designed and built in-house. Custom tread profiles and mounting geometries on demand.
Testing & QC
Certified test lab — dynamic load, rolling resistance, ESD, and chemical compatibility. Full traceability on every batch.
Assembly & export
Manual and semi-automated assembly lines. Export-grade packing for sea freight to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
A castor is a material-science problem
Most failures in industrial mobility aren't mechanical — they're chemical. A tread compound that works at 25 °C on concrete might soften at 80 °C, embrittle in a cold room, or shed material in a food-grade wash-down. Our R&D team develops and qualifies compounds for specific operating envelopes, not general-purpose "good enough".
The lab runs continuous wear testing on rigs that replicate real duty cycles. Every production batch is sampled and held against a reference curve before it ships. When a customer needs a compound for a non-standard environment — high-chloride, low-temperature, ESD-critical — we can propose, prototype, and qualify one inside eight weeks.

Audited standards, not label-on-the-box claims
Every certification on this page is currently active and externally audited. Documentation available on request.
Quality management
Documented control over every production process, from material intake to final inspection. Full traceability per batch.
Environmental management
Monitored waste streams, energy use, and chemical handling. Export documentation for REACH and RoHS compliance.
Castor testing standards
Dynamic load, rolling, and swivel performance tested against the European industrial castor standard. Results archived per product code.
EU compliance
Full chemical declarations for every compound in our catalogue. Acceptable for EU industrial and food-adjacent applications.
